MGPN IM/IT staff work to implement and maintain MGPN information and communication infrastructure and also have a role in supporting the information and reporting needs of all of MGPNs programs.

The division network is not funded to provide free IT maintenance and support services to practices (eg machine repairs and equipment installations). We do provide a number of business and clinical support services relating to information managment at no charge to surgeries. These include:

  • Training for GP clinical and billing systems. This can be provided by group training events or in practice training by arrangement. Particular focus is on online billing and patient recall
  • Assistance with setting up online bulk bill and patient claims including certificate installation and renewal
  • Evaluation of practice systems and recommendations for improvement
  • Advice on accreditation compliance relating to information systems
  • Assistance in meeting Practice Incentive Payment criteria in relation to Information Management (eg eHealth PIP)
  • Industry related advice to practice IT contractors and vendors. For example communicating business needs and clearly stating problems and potential solutions
  • Development of information management tools to assist MGPN staff to implement practice related programs and activities.
