Professional Education
The MGPN has effectively coordinated and provided continuing professional development (CPD) to GPs since the inception of the Network in 1994.
The delivery of GP and practice staff education program is overseen by the CPD Committee. The committee meets quarterly and reviews the Annual GP Survey to ensure identified topics are addressed.
The MGPN’s aim is to ensure that credible, relevant and timely education continues to be delivered at a local level. Events are commonly mid-week dinner meetings with a small number of full or half day weekend events. GPs also participate in individual practice visits or small group learning activities which are carried out by the MGPN National Prescribing Service (NPS) Facilitator.
The MGPN is an accredited provider for RACGP QA & CPD Program. Generally all events involving GPs offer CPD points from RACGP and the ACRRM Professional Development Program. This assists GPs to fulfil their CPD requirements for each triennium.
The MGPN provides a broad education and training program to GPs, Practice Nurses, Practice Staff and Allied Health Professionals.
All CPD activities are listed on the MGPN Events Calendar
The Rural Health Education Foundation regularly broadcasts interactive distance education programs via satellite to 670 sites around Australia. The MGPN records each program and they are available to borrow from the Network’s library. For dates of upcoming programs go to the RHEF website.
