The Murrumbidgee General Practice Network Ltd (MGPN) is a partner with the University of Wollongong Graduate School of Medicine to facilitate and support a rural clinical school for Phase 3 38-week student placements.
Currently, the following sites are contracted to provide GP Preceptorships for the Phase 3 student placements:
Griffith Leeton
- Leeton Medical Centre
- Murrumbidgee Medical and Primary Care Centre
Narrandera
- Narrandera Medical Centre
Shorter-term rotations to Hay Surgery, Hay are also offered to students during the term of their placements in the area.
During the term of their placements students will:
- Undertake competency-based learning through parallel consulting, observation and case review with their GP preceptors and other supporting medical officers.
- Participate in hospital ward rounds and after-hours on-call rosters at their local sites.
- Undertake a full rostered work day per week under supervision in a local hospital emergency department.
- Participate in weekly group tutorials and learning sessions coordinated by the Regional Community Academic Coordinator.
